Shared clipboard works awful

Post by Rinaldus »

I have VirtualBox installed on Arch Linux with Windows XP guest machine. I have Guest Additions installed on it. I need to exchange data between host and guest machines (from OpenOffice and Evolution to Internet Explorer) but shared clipboard very often crashes. When I copy and paste several times and sometime it stops to work: all that I copy in Linux, don't appear in Windows. I'm really bored of this problem, this problem exist several months and nobody fix it. When will you fix this bug?!

Shared clipboard is not for data, it's for text only. If you want to copy files, use Shared Folders.

if you need to easily and constantly move files around then you might want to try vmware server. or vmware player

i kinda wish xVBox would implement this tool.

It comes in handy especially when x-ferring 100mb + files, try copying 2gb file to shared folder, and then to the guest, takes ages....... well twice as long as the drag and drop way :P

im guessing this is a security feature, so the whole system is not susceptible. to being "shared".

Is any converter of virtual box guest machines images to vmware?

No, there is currently no converter from vdi to vmdk.
