Device Names didn't allow by locale settings :-P

スピーカー is Speaker in Japanese.
マイク is Microphone in Japanese.

Thank you for doing this, much appreciated!

Yeah... Actually these are strings that are set during installation, and once the installer picks your locale, it's using that locale to set the device names. Oh, well... Thanks for the translation. ;)

It seems that your Microphone is alive and working. I want you to disconnect *everything* from your host, except the very basic devices. Make sure that the microphone is working and set as the Default in your host.

Then, launch your VM and go to the Control Panel » Sound. Under the "Recording" tab, you'll see a microphone. Select it, click "Properties" » "Levels" tab » take the slider to 100. Close (OK) that dialog and look at the level indicator in the microphone. Tap with your fingers at the microphone. Do you see the slider moving? If not, go to your host's default microphone and set that to 100 (the Level) as well.

I have checked Device Manager on Windows 7 host os, 3 Sound Device show under the Sound, Video, and Game Controller.
  • CyberLink WebCam Virtual Driver
  • Realtek High Definition Audio
  • Intel (R) Display Audio
I think Realtek High Definition Audio is primary device, but The Message "Disabling this device will not work. Are you sure you want to disable this feature?" was pop up,
when I changed CyberLink WebCam Virtual Driver to disabled. Is this manipulation safety?
Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio) is worked with AVS Audio recorder as a default device on the host desktop.

I couldn't access any operation under the "Recording tab". See Attached Screen Capture.
Disabled all button under the Recording tab!!
Disabled all button under the Recording tab!!

Hum....Windows 10 Ver1809 dose not support this device. Too old legacy driver is unsupported under the new Windows.
Intel announced that 2nd Generation Core-i5 (Sandy Bridge) is out of support, now.

You got to follow the instructions given a little bit more carefully. I'll highlight where you didn't.
socratis wrote:I want you to disconnect *everything* from your host
That includes both the CyberLink WebCam and the Intel Display Audio (which I take it is from a HDMI output). Leave nothing connected except your keyboard and the mouse. Even the mouse in not required in a notebook.

You "think"? There's nothing to "think" you got to make sure which device is the default one.
apo2 wrote:I couldn't access any operation under the "Recording tab". See Attached Screen Capture.
Because you missed a step:
socratis wrote:Under the "Recording" tab, you'll see a microphone. Select it, click "Properties" » "Levels" tab » take the slider to 100.
BTW, do the same for *all* your recording devices on your host.
apo2 wrote:Hum....Windows 10 Ver1809 dose not support this device.
Yes it does. Read the linked article again. You are running a Win10-64bit, your CPU is supported. And working!!!

Did you say uninstall driver for "everything" expect keyboard and display, even mouse? or only detach devices?
Too many things are impacted.

Did you say I should test all recording devices even disconnected old usb audio interface used on Windows 7 platform?

Intel reference drivers for internal peripheral devices are not supported, but CPU is working, that's true.
Is VirtualBox supporting for them, or not?

  1. I said disconnect. I didn't say uninstall.
  2. Yes, take all recording devices to 100%. Host and guest.
  3. The CPU is not the subject of this topic. It's already dragging for way too long, don't complicate it any more, please. And yes, it is supported.

Sorry. It is ok, I didn't Select (mouse down on microphone icon). I can click and open "Properties" >> "Level tab". I have take the slider to 100.
But Level meter is not reposed. I will try your instruction, again.

In conclusion, Microsoft General High Definition Audio Driver recognizes the old PC's built-in microphone,
but does not provide VirtualBox compatibility.
It is possible to solve the problem that you want to use the microphone more easily to add an external microphone of the USB connection.
The built-in microphone of the MacBook Pro (Retina Display, early 2015) can be recognized and operated by Microsoft General High Definition Audio driver through VirtualBox.

This problem is fixed by Microsoft High Definition Audio Drivers of Windows 10 Ver1809 Build 18305.1000. Now full specification access is able to use internal microphone of Win7's notebook PC from Win 10 Guest. Thanks, All.
