Windows 10 latest feature update 1809 breaks dual screen (#18016)

I have a laptop that also hooks up to an external Dell 25" screen, capable of 2560x1440 (16:9). Windows 10 guest just received yesterday's latest Microsoft update, the "feature update for 1809" version of Windows 10. Suddenly my two screens for this guest OS no longer honour the proper positioning of the mouse pointer in Windows 10 "Extended display mode" (bigger screen to my right as primary and the laptop screen to the left as the secondary). Every click or mouse move I make is offset by several inches to the left. For example, if I want to click on an icon that's on my primary screen at the left edge of that screen I have to actually move the mouse pointer to about half the screen width further away to the right. This problem exists in both scaled mode and the full-screen mode. Everything is fine in a single display mode. Suggestions? (Please don't say get rid of the "feature update").

I have exactly the same problem.
Host is a MacBook Pro Retina running macOS Mojave Version 10.14.
Guest is running Windows 10 Enterprise.
I used 2 monitors with the setting in the Windows guest to Extend the displays.
The guest was configured with 'Enable 2D Video Acceleration' ON.
After upgrading to Windows 10 1809, the 2 screens on the guest OS no longer honour the mouse positioning as mentioned.
I tried all variations of 'Enable 3D Acceleration' and 'Enable 2D Video Acceleration', but none is working.
Seems like the upgrade messed this up.

Yes, I agree, I tried the same things myself, but to no avail. My laptop is an HP with Linux Ubuntu 18.04LTS as a host. So it seems like the laptop model/make or host OS doesn't matter since both of us are having the same issue. The common denominator is the installation of the latest Windows 10 feature updates that came out yesterday.

My host and guest were both updated to the October 2018 Windows 10 update today. After reinstalling the guest editions CD it appeared that everything was working, until I turned on the second virtual screen. When the second virtual screen is turned on, when I click the mouse, the location of the mouse click is offset from where I clicked. For example, if I right click somewhere on the desktop of either screen, the context menu pops up somewhere else. If I turn off the virtual screen 2, it works fine.

If I have just screen 1 turned on and right click on the desktop and select Display Settings, then turn on virtual screen 2, screen 2 appears above and to the left of screen 1. The lower right corner of screen 2 is where the upper left corner of screen 1 is.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Did you upgrade the guest additions after the Win10 upgrade? That need to be done definitely after a major Windows upgrade.

Also, did you try the latest 5.2.x Test builds? Or even the Development Snapshots? If you want to use the latest version for your host/guests, you should also consider doing the same for VirtualBox. That means test builds, and even those are earlier than yesterday's Win10 upgrade.

I've got the same issue with a Windows 10 client (triple screen) that I upgraded to 1809 (on Windows 10 host that is still not upgraded).

If I disable Mouse Integration it fixes it and while it's less convenient at least it's functional until it's fixed.

I merged your thread from the "Windows Hosts" section and moved it to the thread that deals with these issues in the "Windows Guests" section. That's where the problem is after all, in the guest.

Did you try the suggestions in my previous post in this thread? About updating the GAs (I know you did TomG), but also about the test builds/development snapshots? If no, please do.

I did uninstall, reboot client and reinstall the GAs and it didn't fix it (have rebooted the host as well). While the additions were uninstalled the mouse did work without an offset but it was in single screen mode so I guess that could have just been that.

EDIT: I have also tried full screen vs windowed mode and that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I just found out that there's a ticket related to this, #18016: Mouse problem with Win10 1809 guest and two displays, that was actually opened on 2018-09-27. I'll include the information on the first post, and I'll point the ticket to this discussion.

One question that I have for all of you: Is it my idea, or are we talking about a 2nd screen that has a different DPI from the main screen? One screen is HiDPI and the other one is not? Can you please confirm or deny this?

From left to right: 1) 1080x1920 portrait (main), 2) 2560x1440 landscape, 3) 1200x1920 portrait

All are set to 100% scaling. It's an odd layout but never had problems with it before now.

Some additional input now that I've got time to play with it. My monitors are laid out in the above resolutions like this:

On Display 1:

- Upper left mouse clicks where it should on the display
- Vertical tracking of the mouse location is where it should be
- Horizontal tracking of the mouse seems to be about double (i.e. cursor at horizontal middle translates to a click on the right side of display 1)
- Cursor on the right half of display 1 translates into the left 1080 pixels of Display 2

On Display 2:

- Horizontal position of the cursor from 0 to 2559 translates into the desktop positions from 0 to 4839 (1080 + 2560 + 1200). In other words it's translating the cursor space of Display 2 to the whole clickable space of the desktop horizontally.
- It looks like it is doing the same vertically. Cursor at the top of Display 2 translates into clicks on the desktop defined by the top of Display 1 and 3.

Here's an image to make the above more clear. When clicking inside Display 2, the actual clicked location is translated out to the desktop based on the location of the pink areas on Display 2.

On Display 3:

Display 3 translates cursor locations to clicks on Display 1 and left half of Display 2. Vertically is 1:1, horizontally seems around doubled in the same way that Display 1 is doubling. Basically Display 3 translates cursor locations to the same desktop clicks locations as Display 1 but because it is wider it extends further into Display 2.

my three screens (Notebook, HDMI, VGA) are all 1080p. The two screens of the Windows-VM are on two identical displays.

Getting same issue with two displays, one 1280x1024, the other one 3440 x 1440, no dpi scaling (both set to 100% scaling in windows 10 display settings). The cursor shift seem to depend on the relative position and sizes of the two displays.
