No network with windows xp pro 64 bit

I've tried NAT and 'host only adapter' and neither work so what do I do to get network working please anyone ? I've obviously installed guest additions
How did you check for a network connection? The browser in XP is out of date and will not work with modern web sites.
Are you sure that you have Windows XP x64? That is a rare beast and is based on the Windows Server 2003 x64 code base.
