Moving VM to different location

Is there any official way of moving VMs to different locations?
I found a few tutorials but when I tried them, they still leave files in the Default Machine location and only move the .vdi or .vhd file!
Some tutorials says the correct way is to create .ova file from the current V, then delete VM, then add .ova from new location or something like this.
Other tutorials says to close VMs and shut down VirtualBox, then move actua VM folders manually to new location, then open VirtualBox, delete "damaged" VMs and add new ones using the existing VM files from the new locations.
Others says to detach VM files from VMs, remove them from MEdia Manager, move them manually and re-attach them from the new locations.
So which one would suit best?
