Having Virtualbox 4.1.44 installed in ubunto and when trying to install Guest addition in Guest machine with Xp sp3 ,an Error generated
and the install aborted.

Error: Unable to locate DIFxAPI.dll
ERROR: Could not install files for Windows 2000 / XP / Vista! Installation aborted.”

Trying this solution
Navigate to Start > Run and enter “regedit”.
Then find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
With “CurrentVersion” selected, go to the Edit menu and click New > Key
Name the key “RunOnce”, and leave everything else at defaults.

But the Error still Exist.

Error was resolved :

Just Download the DLL Difxapi.dll and put it in C:\Windows\system32
Restart the setup.

It is not necessary to register the DLL.
