Hello everybody, I'm trying to install an old videogame on my Windows XP's VM.
I put the CD in, I can start the autoplay, install the game and finish the installation. When I try to run it, it opens the options menu: PLAY, UNINSTALL, EXIT.
If I click on PLAY, however, an alert box tells me that:
"Cannot locate the DVD-ROM"__"Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart the application"
How is that possible? I was able to install the game so why is it that now it can't locate it anymore? And how can I solve it?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Cannot locate the DVD-ROM of an old videogame
Well, on the face of it, it requires the DVD-ROM to be present in the drive during gameplay. Perhaps it fetches data from it, and/or perhaps it's a protection feature.
If it's a protection feature then it won't work in a VM as configured by default. You'd need to set the "Passthrough" checkbox on the CD drive in the VM settings.
