Hi
I have a window 10 host, intel i7 4790k, asus VII Ranger motherboard, I would like to create a Virtual Box guest, possibly Ubuntu.

My first issue is that on the guest selection I see only 32 bit options, so I downloaded ubuntu-16.04.5-desktop-i386, 32 bit, I set 2G of ram, 50G of hard disk, enabled I/O APIC, 1 CPU and put my ISO as the source.

When I start the VM hangs right away, on a black screen with an underscore on top flashing. I cannot write any text or do anything. The Ubuntu installation never starts.

I tried also with windows 10 32 bit and the same things happen, only that the vm freeze on the windows logo.

I tried enabling VT-d from the bios (the option was not present in UEFI) and I made sure Hiper-v was disabled, but it's still not working and also 64bit options doesn't show up.

Any help would be appreciated! thanks!

Logs attached

You don't need VT-d, you need VT-x.
00:00:01.681755 HM: HMR3Init: Falling back to raw-mode: VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes
Please go thoroughly through the FAQ: I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests. Remember that these are just guidelines, you have to use your judgement...

PS. For future reference you should ZIP your logs. It helps save a (virtual) tree or two... ;)

What were the steps that you tried from the FAQ and didn't work? Remember, one person's solution might not apply in your case.

Plus, you have your own thread, how about answering there?
