Kernel panic on certain Ubuntu version

Post by simond100 »

Hi!

Host: OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
Guest: Ubuntu 16.04.04 with Linux 4.13.0-45-generic on X_86_64(dosen't work)
Ubuntu 16.04.04 with Linux 4.13.0-43-generic on X_86_64(work)
Virtual Box: 5.2.12

When I boot with 4.13.0-45, it fails with a Kernel panic (see screen-shot:
kernelPanic.PNG
kernelPanic.PNG (42.23 KiB) Viewed 1052 times
).
When I boot with 4.13.0-43, there is no problem.

Here is the log:
kernelPanic.log
(65.13 KiB) Downloaded 41 times
Do you have any ideas?

There doesn't immediately look to be anything wrong in the VirtualBox log file. You are probably going to have to read the messages from the Linux kernel to see whether it thinks it has found the hard disk partition it wants to use as its root file system or any other errors it gives out before it panics.

Just for kicks, could you increase your VRAM from 12 MB to something like 64 or 128 MB?
