The problem is that the Symantec drivers invade the VirtualBox processes, and you have to prevent that from happening, if you want to use both programs. How to achieve this would be a question for the security software provider's support or forum, or Google in general. Hint: You can search for an answer independent of VirtualBox, since this is a general problem of many security softwares with all programs that want to have their privacy.

unfortunately, I haven't found a solution to this issue so far.

I will probably end up uninstalling VirtualBox as it has demonstrated to be somehow in conflict with Norton.

Great, I live in Mexico. I see many solutions on english, in my case it works my VirtualBox uninstalling "Truster Seguridad Terminal" , CityBanamex advices its use. Por lo que solo desinstalé esta aplicación y volvió a funcionar mis máquinas virtuales.
