Snapshot efficiency on SSD/HDD

I moved a VM's virtual drives from HDD to SSD. Since I haven't figured out how to relocate snapshots (separate question) I'm still creating snapshots on a hard drive partition.

Since I have no clue how snapshots work, I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. If most accesses are still to the virtual image, then it's going to be served by the SSD. If all changes are logged to the snapshot, then I'm may be limiting myself to HDD speeds.

Is there any benefit to having the virtual drive images on SSD if I'm using HDD for snapshots?

Thanks!

I stared writing a FAQ about Snapshots, but I never found the time to finalize it, so it's still marked as "Draft". :?

Still, it might provide you with some insight: Snapshot basics.

Draft or not, that makes things very clear. Thanks! I definitely do want to relocate the snapshots to the SSD.

Thanks for your comments, appreciated it. I got to find more time to work on that at some point and finalize it... ;)
