Dear all,
my host is NAS4FREE 11.1.0.4 - Atomics (revision 5313) 64bit with version 5.2.8 of Virtual Box.
I'm trying to install an Ubuntu server but sistem stuck during the installation.
My attempts:
- 16.04.3 server 64bit: failure after choosing language
- 16.04.4 server 64bit: failure after choosing language
- 16.04.4 server 32bit: failure after packaging selection
- 14.04.5 server 64bit: failure after packaging selection

My host runs a WinXP guest with no problem and a Xubuntu 17.10 64bit.

I've also tryed to create my Ubuntu server with Windows 10, export the guest and import on my NAS4FREE but the machine stucks immediately.

Can someone help me?

Something doesn't become a VirtualBox problem (or a Dell problem, or an HP problem) simply by virtue of running software on a VirtualBox VM (or a Dell or HP PC).

You are getting soft error messages from the guest software. Why do you think this may be a VirtualBox problem?

I'm not an an SQL server expert, but I would wonder if 512MB RAM, 16MB graphics RAM and 1 core may be under-specced for the task?

I think that is a problem of Virtual Box in that host because the same guest configuration with the same sources works when I create the ubuntu server on my desktop pc.

Some months (may or july 2017) ago I've created a guest with the same configuration on the same host and I had no problems.

Triple fault errors are normally caused by the guest doing something nasty. Now this host is an old Core 2 Duo, so maybe the guest trying to use some feature that doesn't exist on this CPU. Or maybe you just have a corrupted ISO.

The head of the log file would suggest that you aren't seeing the problems on a Linux host but on FreeBSD. Also, the released versions on the VirtualBox Downloads page are all build 121009. There probably aren't (m)any users around these forums that know what is in 5.2.8 r120774 freebsd.amd64 (Mar 14 2018 20:11:29) or from whence it came and so it will probably be general advice only.

I don't know why but with Ubuntu server 17.10.1 amd64 it works.

The guest is normally running.

I think that the topic is not solved because Ubuntu server 16.04.4 it doesn't works (for me).

As AndyP indicated FreeBSD as Host is not listed as a supported OS in the VirtualBox User Manual and nor is there a download for a FreeBSD version of VirtualBox amongst the official downloads on the VirtualBox Website.

If you were/are using a VirtualBox software distribution provided elsewhere, e.g. by the distributor of your FreeBSD Host installation then that is a 'forked' version (not created or supported by Oracle); and you should direct questions about any problems/issues to the actual distributor of that release.
