what boot medium possible?

Post by Jens4711 »

Hi (I'm a newbe here)

I have a new HP-Computer. When I bought it there was only windows vista on it. Now I installed the newest Ubuntu 8.01 on it and then the virtual box. Now I thought I can run Ubuntu then start the virtual box and then boot win visat in the box. everything looks fine but I always get the message:

"FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted."

Any suggestions??? Can it be the formatting of the Windows partition? By the way the windows partition is mounted. But I have the feeling that I never really told VBox where to find the boot medium. Does it always have to be a CD or DVD? Or can I use the existing WinVista on my hard drive as boot medium?

If you need any other Information to help me please let me know? (How do I get that information under Linux?)

Thanks.

Probably you forgot add boot media to virtualbox trough menu. Use Devices/Mount CD/DVD...
