Hi,
Two monitors
OpenSuSE 43
VirtualBox 5.2.8
until yesterday I managed to choose the monitor for the seamless mode by simply moving the main window of the client to the one I wanted the main window to be and then activate seamless mode. Since yesterday, both virtual screens open on the same monitor. Nothing I do changes this even using the VirtualBox menu that appears in seamless mode.
I tried to update VirtualBox => no change
I turned off the 2nd virtual screen => main virtual screen always opens on the same host monitor
What can I do?
thx,
Karl

Re: choosing Monitor for seamless mode
Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager. Select "Show in Finder/Explorer/Whatever". ZIP the selected ".vbox" file and attach it to your response.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Re: choosing Monitor for seamless mode
Not according to the recipe... It's clear the screen 0 goes to monitor 0, and screen 1 goes to monitor 1:karlsinn wrote:Since yesterday, both virtual screens open on the same monitor.
Anything else that may have changed in your setup? You can also try it with full-screen, and secondly you can change which screen goes to which monitor from the menu or the mini-toolbar.<ExtraDataItem name="GUI/VirtualScreenToHostScreen0" value="0"/> <ExtraDataItem name="GUI/VirtualScreenToHostScreen1" value="1"/>

Re: choosing Monitor for seamless mode
Interesting, the information about the second virtual monitor is still in the file as I had deleted the 2nd virtual monitor.
I have tried in fullscreen (HOST+F) and indeed in fullscreen I can change the monitor on which the box is displayed by selecting the monitor I want in the menu of the mini-toolbar.
Still, in seamless mode it's not working. I can click on both monitors in the list but nothing changes.
I have moved the whole computer yesterday from one corner to the other. In the new location I tried to connect one of the monitors with a HDMI cable which didn't work at all, so I switched back to the old cable. And because of my new seating position I have moved the XFCE4 menu to the other screen. Can't think of any other change and these changes shouldn't create my problem.
Any ideas what I can do?

Re: choosing Monitor for seamless mode
FYI: I tried to create a new box connecting the same vdi. Doesn't change the behavior
Re: choosing Monitor for seamless mode
Hi,
by chance I figured that I have to move the window of the VirtualBoxManager , the first Screen of the VirtualBox and the mouse to the monitor where I want the main virtual monitor to appear. Then things work out as usual.
thx for the help,
Karl

Re: [Solved] choosing Monitor for seamless mode
Hmm... interesting. I never made the "connection" with such a behavior, I've always used my primary monitor as my primary screen I guess...
Glad you got it going. And thank you for marking the topic as [Solved]...
