Webcam working on host is not acknowledged in VB

I've got a Logitech C615 webcam attached to a USB 2 port on an old 2011 MacBook Pro. The camera works within macOS Sierra just fine. However, VirtualBox 5.2.8 (r121009) does not list it among the webcams available to my Windows 10 guest. This, despite the installation of the appropriate Extensions Pack, and, of course, Guest Additions.

Neither Devices->webcams, nor `VBoxManage list webcams` shows anything other than the built-in FaceTime camera. And yet, even "About This Mac"->"System Report"->USB shows the camera.

No USB filters are defined for the guest VM. Logging reveals nothing.

Any suggestions on getting VirtualBox to recognize the camera that the macOS Sierra host does?

Presumably this device is not considered to be a standard webcam. You should still be able to access it as a normal USB device.

  1. Did you install any Logitech drivers that come with the camera?
  2. Post the output of the following commands from the Terminal:
    • kextstat | grep -v com.apple
      VBoxManage list webcams
      VBoxManage list usbhost
