The error message you are getting is pretty self-explanatory. But I will explain.

Virtual box does not support 64-bit guests.

Vista Ultimate, as in the retail version, has 2 DVDs inside the box. One for 32 bit and one for 64 bit. If you downloaded Vista, you just happened to download the wrong one.

VMWare has 64 bit Guest support, but only on 64 bit Host systems. VB however has 64 bit Guest support sheduled for the next major release (if it's 1.7.0 or not is uncertain, see the FAQ). If it all goes well, you might be able to run 64 bit Guests on 32 bit Host systems, as long as you have a 64 bit capable CPU. This is still uncertain.
There is currently no advantage to run 64 bit Guest systems, so why do you want to run it?
