Updated to latest version of VirtualBox and now my machines won't work
Posted: 2. Feb 2018, 03:26
I am currently running VirtualBox version 5.1.30 on a thinkpad laptop with Ubuntu version 17.10. I have tried to update to the latest VirtualBox however my machines fail to work properly on the latest version. I am using VB to run Whonix. I am hoping somebody can help me out. I would post photos of the errors but since my account is new apparently I am not allowed. I will do my best to type out the errors below. Thanks!
I have tried that '/sbin/vboxconfig' command and it did not fix the issue. I uninstalled virtualbox and also ran the "autoremove" command along with the "update" and "upgrade" commands and tried re-installing, still got the error. Hope you guys can make some sense of this. I downloaded the program straight from the VB website as well.

VirtualBox - Error in supR3HardenedMaininitRuntime
RTR3initEx failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)
The VirtualBox kernel modules do not match this version of VirtualBox. The installation of VirtualBox was apparently not successful. Executing '/sbin/vboxconfig' may correct this. Make sure that you do not mix the OSE version and the PUEL version of VirtualBox.
