virtual machine inaccessible
virtual machine inaccessible
After a re-installation of my system (Centos-7) and installation of VirtualBox-5.2, I was able to use a Windows guest again. But after a reboot of the host system I'm now getting this error message. The logs are empty. The "Location" is ../VirtualBox VMs/WinVirt/WinVirt.vbox', line 1 (0), column 1. That file is also empty. There's a non-empty WinVirt.vbox-prev but it's dated Nov 2016. Other guests seem to be working normally.

Re: virtual machine inaccessible
Delete the empty WinVirt.vbox and rename the WinVirt.vbox-prev to WinVir.vbox and it should work.

Re: virtual machine inaccessible
Or if there's a ".vbox-temp" file, that might work as well.
If you are unsure, make a backup of both files, ZIP both of them and attach the ZIPPED file here for further guidance.

It did work. Thanks.

Re: virtual machine inaccessible
It worked in that the guest started, but when I shut it down, there was again an empty WinVirt.vbox. Why is this?

Because there wasn't any more room on the device :+(
