Windows guests loose internet connection after hibernate of guest

Post by wdperl »

Hello Community,

since i am using Windows 10 Pro on a new guest, i run in this issue with actual release 5.2.4 (appears to happen with all older releases too):
- having several windows guests running (Win7, 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016R2) with bridged mode, LAN network is up and connection to internet ok, it is independent if i use DHCP or direct IP in this guests
- shutdown or hibernate windows guest
- hibernate windows 10 host (it is a Dell XPS15 with LAN network, driver "Realtek USB GbE Family Controller", connected on Thunderbolt docking for this laptop)
- after resuming windows 10 host, and resume or start any of the windows guest boxes,
the network adapter within the guest shows the yellow mark and the internet connection is lost, it is a not identified network now
- no way to solve this, restarting network services in the guests without success, IP is still gathered ok through DHCP, ping etc. is ok, but not to the internet, DNS server or DC (hosted server) is not reachable anymore
- when i reboot the host, everything works fine in the guests afterwards, but not if the host was hibernated
- when i start network diagnosis in the guest it finds "the default gateway is not available", but not able to resolve it.
Any idea what can be done to get "identified network" in the guests after hibernate mode of host?
btw., this was never an issue on a windows 7 host i worked with before, but with new windows 10 host this scenario to hibernate the host bcoz afterwards the guest network has this problem.

Any ideas how to solve this?
