January 2018 crashing on Mac OS X 10.12.6

Post by neodymium »

I'm seeing some fresh crashes in January of 2018. I am running a Windows 10 guest machine.

I had the VDI file for the machine marked as Immutable for a while. Then I tried to change it back to Normal.

It seems like the crashing behavior might have started sometime after I changed the VDI file from Immutable to Normal.

I pasted in some of the data on the crash. Any help is appreciated. Thank you and have a good day.

Please do not copy/paste the raw data, it makes it really difficult to work with. ZIP and attach the crash log.

Also, you've got to be more detailed about the crash. "It crashes" doesn't really help. You've got to be specific about the conditions that cause the crash.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

I'm not sure exactly under what circumstances it crashes.

I looked in the Console application on Macintosh, and it showed a total of 16 crashes for VirtualBox, I believe.

I'm attaching 12 of the crashes in case you want to take a look at them. I was going to attach all 16, but it seems like there is a file size limit on the bulletin board.

Thank you and have a great day.

So, do you want me to start guessing? I can't tell why it crashes, you've got to dig a little bit deeper. I know it doesn't crash on other users' setups, so there must be something specific to your setup. I can't tell what.
Path: /Volumes/VOLUME/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/VirtualBox
We've been through that, no?: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=85990

Not really, no.

I should thank the admins for that. I do *not* need to go through your whole computer's crash history.

What I would like to, would be a reliable way to generate the crash. For example, unmount anything mounted, unplug any USB devices that you don't use. Anything "funky" about your setup? What changed in your setup? Post the output of:
  • kextstat | grep -v com.apple
