vlan tagging

I am diagnosing an issue where we suspect vlan tagging is getting stripped from the NIC. Can anyone suggest a sure-fire way of capturing the tagging in a VirtualBox vm? Using tcpdump -nnei enp0s10 -vvv port 8095 but this isn't showing.
