Hi. I've installed virtualbox on my notebook. I want to install the s.o. linux/ubuntu but I've not the dvd device. I downloaded the s.o. in a directory but I dont' know how run the installation from virtualbox (I don't know how navigate in the directory). I believe I am making a lot of confusion..... Help me Thank you...

"s.o."? Do you mean OS?

You need to download the setup ISO for the OS you wish to install. Then read chapter 1 of the user manual (especially section 1.7). And don't be intimidated, it's really very simple - or the OS's concerned would have been overtaken by competitors that made it simpler. Installing Ubuntu is just a matter of reading a few questions on the screen and answering them after a moment of thought. If you can cope with a street questionaire then you can install a Linux based OS.

I believe I'll use an other pc because I receive a msg in which it tells that it doesn't exist a o.s. on the pc and I cannot risk (I think that it speak about the virtual disk).... So, how I can execute a prg that is on my phisic disk? I have to make public the directoty between hots and guess?

Once you have the guest OS installed you can configured a shared folder on the host which the guest can access.

Incidentally, all guest OS installers will ask you scary questions such as "DO YOU WANT ME TO TOTALLY DESTROY EVERYTHING ON YOUR HARD DISK"? .... Do not be concerned. If the software concerned is running inside a VM (and that is quite easy to see) then it cannot possibly affect the disk of the host. The question refers only to the (blank) virtual hard disk associated with the VM, except that the guest OS installer doesn't know it's running in a VM, and doesn't know that the disk is blank, hence the warning it gives you.
