Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

Also verify whether you are using wayland or Xorg.

Enable 3D acceleration in the guest and see if that helps.

Remove the current guest additions and try the 5.1.30 ones from here http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... 5.1.30.iso and see if it helps.

I have try with : VBoxGuestAdditions_5.2.1-118918.iso

Bidirectionnal Copy past and folder share work; but Ubuntu is very slow :( i don't have this problem with Ubuntu 16.x

So, i try with : VBoxGuestAdditions_5.1.30.iso

Code: Select all

sudo bash VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox 5.1.30 Guest Additions for Linux...........
VirtualBox Guest Additions installer
Removing installed version 5.2.1 of VirtualBox Guest Additions...
Copying additional installer modules ...
Installing additional modules ...
vboxadd.sh: Starting the VirtualBox Guest Additions.
reboot
All it's good, but my Ubuntu is slow. Maybe it's GNOME the problem with Ubuntu 17.10, so i try :

Code: Select all

sudo apt install unity
All is good, So, use Unity, not GNOME. :(

But i want to reinstall VBoxGuestAdditions_5.2.1-118918.iso

Code: Select all

Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox 5.2.1 Guest Additions for Linux........
VirtualBox Guest Additions installer
Removing installed version 5.1.30 of VirtualBox Guest Additions...
Copying additional installer modules ...
Installing additional modules ...
VirtualBox Guest Additions: Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules.
VirtualBox Guest Additions: Running kernel modules will not be replaced until the system is restarted
VirtualBox Guest Additions: Starting.
VirtualBox Guest Additions: modprobe vboxsf failed
:(

I am trying to reproduce the black screen problem and have so far failed dismally. I would greatly appreciate detailed instructions, starting with installing a fresh guest (and exact details of what was selected or changed from the defaults during installation).
