Bridging troubles

Post by codecks »

Hello,

I want to connect an Ubuntu 8.04 server running in Virtual Box 1.6.4 to my local network using a bridge. The Host is Ubuntu 8.04 desktop.

I set up the bridge following instructions in the virtualbox user guide but I'm having some problems. At least I suppose it is a problem.

So, I can access the server from my network (ping works, apache works) but from the server itself I cannot ping any address on the network but the host.
When I ping anything but the host it says: "From 192.168.1.80 destination host unreachable" 192.168.1.80 is the static address of the server.

If someone can help me on what could be going on...

A good start is the Forum Posting Guide. Give the info we need first.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
VirtualBox FAQ: Check this before asking questions.
Online User Manual: A must read if you want to know what we're talking about.
Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions

See the Tutorials and FAQ section at the top of the Forum for more guides.
Try searching the forums first with Google and add the site filter for this forum.
E.g. install guest additions site:forums.virtualbox.org
