Hi,

Using Virtualbox 1.6.4 and latest Archlinux iso archlinux-2008.06-core-i686.iso, installed on xfs partition, updated to testing version (which pulls kernel 2.6.26), rebooted, and got this:

VBox.log

Any idea?

edit: using elevator=noop as boot option if that matters. (doesn't change anything at boot though)...

edit2: It boots fine with ACPI disabled in virtualbox settings.

I got the same problem with VirtualBox 1.6.x, kernel panics all the time when using the disk a bit. But since I upgraded to VirtualBox 2.0.2 I haven't seen any kernel panics and oopses anymore. So the best suggestion would be: upgrade.

This error is known and it not exactly an error from VB. The kernel just isn't able to handle the way VB emulates the hardware. With a newer version, or newer kernel (2.6.27), this won't happen.
