virtualbox and multimedia keyboard

Post by legluondunet »

Hello,
my guest OS does not receive my multimedia keyboard key signal, is it normal?
When I press on volume + or volume - my guest OS receive nothing.
Virtualbox does not transmit all the signal of my keyboard from the host to the guest?
Thank you for your help.

Multimedia keyboards are not the same as the typical old PS/2 keyboard. VirtualBox emulates the latter, so you won't see any of your multimedia keys passed on to the guest.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

You can try creating a USB filter to pass the keyboard to the VM directly. Keep in mind - and this is very important - that you would have to have a separate keyboard attached to your host, because the host would no longer receive inputs from it while the VM is running.
