I have been through numerous steps and have not found any solutions to a startup problem.

Failed to start vboxadd-service.service

I have updated and upgraded and installed current linux headers and reinstalled guest additions several times to no avail.

What is causing this service to not start?

If I run systemctl status vboxadd-service.service, the guest addition service starts, and then line immediately following says
vboxadd-service.service: Control process exited, code=exited status=1/FAILURE
Failed to start vboxadd-service.service

From what I can tell, guest additions is working, but I cannot get this startup failure to clear.

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.
