New to VB - Help with Bridged Adapter setup

I have a PC running Linux Mint Cinnamon along with VB 5.1.26.

I've created a VM for PFSense and it works fine using NAT for my outside adapter. From what I've read, I really need to be using a Bridged adapter for my outward facing NIC. I don't want this machine to be visible to the outside world.
When I set the outside NIC to Bridged, then go into the VM, it will not pull an IP address, which is understandable, as my ISP only allows one IP. I found somewhere saying to disable the NIC in the Host, then it will work. I did that and the guest doesn't see the NIC at all. I know many have done this in the past without issues, but I'm not having any luck.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Details are necessary here. What machine can not be seen? Host, guest, pfsense? Can we assume you do not have a router and that is what pfsense is to be used for?

Everything works fine with WAN set to NAT, but I don't want the Host to have the outward facing public IP (for security purposes). I want the VM running PFSense to have the IP address. I've tried editing the IPv4 settings for the adapter in Network Connections, but as soon as I reboot my cable modem, it creates a new adapter without the changes I made.

I just tried this on my laptop at work and it seems to have worked, so I think I'm going to wipe and re-install tonight.
