Hello,
I'm currently using VirtualBox 5.1.14 r112924
running on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
the program tells there is an update to latest version (virtual box 5.1.26)
so I download it. (100% completed, also try download using downloader apps)
but when I'm open the dmg files, mac tell me that the dmg got corrupted
The following disk image couldn't be opened : image not recognized (see attachment)
I'm also try to redownload many times
also try to download previous build(virtualbox 5.1.22)
but still the dmg couldn't be opened in my mac
is there any release using .zip instead of .dmg for macos ?
Thank you

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
If you're using 5.1.14 then why is it looking for images 5.1.22, and 5.1.26? And what kind of images are they anyway? If these are GAs ISOs then you should only be using the image which was bundled with your installed copy of VirtualBox.
In general, if ISO/DMG images are no longer available you can release and unregister then using File|Virtual Media Manager.

Not a good idea. Try a standard browser; Safari, Firefox, Opera or Chrome.hendradarwin wrote:also try download using downloader apps
Most probably because it is corrupted.hendradarwin wrote:mac tell me that the dmg got corrupted
No. And if you have a problem downloading things, then DMG is much better compared to ZIP, because it actually contains checks to makes sure that your download is not corrupt.hendradarwin wrote:is there any release using .zip instead of .dmg for macos ?
Please try again, with another browser, clear the cache, reboot, reboot your router, etc...
PS. If you post a screenshot, make sure that you show us what you intended. The 1st column is too small to show the full name for example...

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
I think the OP has a problem installing VirtualBox as a program, not using a DMG/ISO inside VirtualBox...mpack wrote:In general, if ISO/DMG images are no longer available you can release and unregister then using File|Virtual Media Manager.

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
So does zip. Every file in the zip is protected by its own CRC32, as is the header.socratis wrote:then DMG is much better compared to ZIP, because it actually contains checks to makes sure that your download is not corrupt.

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
Was not aware of the CRC header in the ZIP. Thanks...

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
Hello guys, thank you for replies
when I failed open the 5.1.26 dmg files, I was thinking maybe this version is corrupted
so I try search for older version in virtualbox website and I found version 5.1.22(from old build section)
The images in that screenshot mean .dmg files, it's macos term by the way
so that's way I'm trying to use downloader apps, and it still got corrupted
No, it only looking for the latest version (5.1.26).mpack wrote:If you're using 5.1.14 then why is it looking for images 5.1.22, and 5.1.26? And what kind of images are they anyway?

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
When you download the file, check the checksum and compare it to the published ones (in the Downloads page).

Re: DMG cannot be opened in MacOS Sierra
You're right I check the checksum, and turn out dmg file I download on MacOS has wrong checksum, Although is 100% downloadedsocratis wrote:When you download the file, check the checksum and compare it to the published ones (in the Downloads page).
and dmg file I downloaded on Windows has correct size
Problem solved
Solution: try to download on other operating system (like windows)
Thank you for all your reply
