I am attempting to install Virtual Box on my Compaq Laptop with a 250 gig hdd and using Ubuntu 8.04 as host.

When I got to the part to create my virtual disk space, I selected 50 gig. When I hit continue, I got a warning that I didn't have enough disk space. I then looked at my system monitor and for some reason it shows I only had 44.7 gib avail. This is a new system and I haven't installed anything that would have used that much disk space.

Would sure appreciate some assistance with this.

Hardy include a wonderful little disk usage analyser tool to show you exactly where you are using up all your disk.

I personally would make my virtual partitions that big. Clearly you need one big enough to hold your OS, and is you are attempting to install Vista then my suggestion is that you can get XP OEM licences cheap! Big partitions are a pain to manage and backup. It's not as if adding a new (virtual) disk involves any screws and cables
