Hi
i have read many threads about problems with usb, but i didnt find one that could solve my problems
i am using hardy heron(host), xp (guest) an vb (latest release).
The usb-equipment i want to use is my memory-stick and my garmin. Both are discovered in the vb-settings menue.
But after starting the virtual mashine and putting the usb-equipment on, they are shown under hardy and not in XP.
Whats the problem?

So you've gone into the "settings" for the guest VM, clicked on USB
and enabled the USB controller?
Next, check that you've created a filter for the device. With it plugged
into the host, click the second button from the top on the RIGHT side
of the USB window. You should now get an entry that shows the
device(s) under USB device filters, with a vendor ID and a product ID
listed below the large window.
If yo get that and the guest still can't see the devices than I'm out of
advice.

Sorry it takes a lot longer to answer posts for people who don't read and follow the advice given in
Forum Posting Guide, so the reason that you don't get your answer is that too many people are like you in their posting habit.
Have you installed the PUEL Edition and loaded PEUL Guest additions?

Hi,
The USB Controller is enabled, also usb2.0. The usb-devices I need are shown in the filterwindow.
I have not installed the OSE. Guest additions are installed too.

Dont say what is not installed, Say exactly, what you have installed.
Say exatctly, what you have done with USBFS in fstab.
Say exactly all messages, input and output word by word.
Else there is nothing to say.

Hi
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=000

You havent checked the tipps from the User FAQ? See this on VBOX Homepage. There are some settings for Ubuntu to be done.

Hallo,
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs uid=1000,gid=1001,umask=000,devmode=664
