Newbie, trying to get my guest additions extension pack to install. I started with my VB on my C: drive then reinstalled to my E: dirve as I was running out of space, when I double click the extension pack that goes with this version 5.1.6 it gives me the following errror:
The installer failed with exit code 1: VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe: error: argv[0] does not match the executable image path: 'E:VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe' != 'E:\VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe'.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Error when trying to install guest additons extensions
If you reinstalled the Virtualbox application to the E drive to move existing guests or save new ones on the E drive, then that won't work . The app itself is only two hundredish MB and should stay in the default C drive install location. We can show you how to move and place guests on the E drive after you reinstall back on the default "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Virtualbox".
On a Windows host, to install Virtualbox properly you must right-click the Virtualbox installer program and choose "Run As Administrator" from the right-click menu, even if your account is an administrator account. (Note that "right-click-Run-As-Administrator" is not "log-off-log-back-on-as-Administrator-double-click", and it is not "I'm-already-an-Administrator-so-I-don't-have-to". Running the installer with a usual double-click even under an Admin account will still not give you the necessary permissions.)
There are Guest Additions, and there is the Extension Pack. There is no Guest Additions Extension Pack. GAs go in the guest OS, EP goes on the host Virtualbox application. If you can't get the Extension Pack installed, close the VB window and right-click the VB icon. Choose Run As Administrator. Then install the EP. Then close VB again and run normally. (Don't run VB as Admin for normal operation of usual guests.)

Re: Error when trying to install guest additons extensions
yes, it looks like i did the 2nd install on my external drive:
E:\VirtualBox.exe
what would be the best way to move forward as I have a couple of appliances already in my Virtual Manager and one has lots of snapshots.
Should i do the newest install of virtual box back on my c: drive and then install the GA and Extensions and then reload or repoint to my exist appliances?
Thanks

Re: Error when trying to install guest additons extensions
Uninstall Virtualbox, then reinstall back on the default "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Virtualbox" folder, using the right-click-the-installer-Run-As-Admin.
To point your new guests at the E drive: in the main Virtualbox window, go to the File menu, Preferences, General, Default Machine Folder, point to E drive location.
To move the old guests to the E drive: see Moving a VM (also good re-interpreted as "Backing Up a VM").

Re: Error when trying to install guest additons extensions
I have reinstalled Virtual box to the default location on the c: drive and installed my extension pack and Guest addition, it looks like I am good to go, only question is do i need to reboot the guest operating system or can I just do a "Close -> Save State" and restart virtual box without admin privleges?

Re-install the Guest Additions (GAs) in the guest, if it's supported. I don't think you ever mentioned the guest OS...
