Hey dear community,

I have a problem with my VirtualBox. All VMs are running very slowly (its a torture to install guest additions)...Maybe somebody can help me.

Host:
Lenovo Y580 Notebook with Kubuntu 16.04.2 64bit
- Core i7 3630QM (8x 2,4 GHz)
- Nvidia GTX 660M + Intel HD 4000
- 8 GB RAM
- 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD

Guest: Windows7 Prof 32bit
- 2 Cores
- 2048 MB RAM
- 100 MB Graphic RAM

The host root is installed on SSD and VM data as well. The .vdi is on HDD.
I have installed Kubuntu today and want to use Windows in VM. The installation process of Win7 was okay and pretty fast, but after that its a torture. It becomes very slow after 30sec of work. Does anybody know what the problem can be?

Many thanks!

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

I see a massive amount of read and IO errors in the log. I also see that you are running the distro fork of VirtualBox which we do not support here. It is your decision to continue to use their version but then they would need to assist you further. I would run a test on the drive and make sure that the drive is not failing for what ever reason and if it were me I would remove the distro version and install the official version from virtualbox.org.

He also has a weird folder structure - e.g. main VDI (Win7.vdi) in a different folder than the rest of the VM :-
