hello
i have a problem with the usb wireless card Alfa AWUS051NH v.2. When i configured the VM with the purpose to detect the drivers of the card i saw that i couldn't use the same connection in the guest and the host and when i used the VM ( the connection is gone). My host is mint and the vm ( guest ) is a distro called slitaz
I was reading this: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=82639#p390401 , but i don't understand if the USB sharing affects the VM and the host too or this is a misconfiguration of my VirtualBox (?)
i'm using the virtualbox version 5.1, the vm is configured like NAT and the usb filters has this configuration:
name: Ralink 802.11 n WLAN [0101]
vendor id: 148f
product id: 3572
revision: 0101
manufacturer: Ralink
product: 802.11 n WLAN
serial: 1.0
remote: any
( i'm using usb 3.0 )
What should i do? Is there any possibility to solve this?
Thank you so much

Re: problem usb wireless card connection
USB devices are not shareable, they are a one-to-one device. If you just need network connectivity then use NAT which is a shared network (software) instead.

But i have some doubts..
If i want in a vm detects wlan0 i have to install the driver or configure usb filter right ?
I have more vm and i want to connect one vm to other
I used nat and internal network
For this purpose..
Wlan0 it's necessary?
Or only eth0?
When i put iwconfig it says: no wireless extensions
Thank you

The guest will not see a wireless card unless you use a USB wireless adapter. It will see a wired connection ( eth* ) and use that.

Please read the following: User Manual, ch 6.2. Introduction to networking modes including the Overview table which shows quickly what kind of connection is required to achieve what you want. And remember, you can always have more than one network card in your guest to cover multiple scenarios.D4v3 wrote:I have more vm and i want to connect one vm to other
