Shared clipboard not working, Mac host, Ubuntu 16.04 guest

Bidirectional clipboard is enabled, but it's not working for simple text. log attached.
You have installed an old set of the Guest Additions (GAs) in the guest. Not only that, but they are the fork version, the one that comes with Ubuntu as their default.
