Wireless card usb without driver installed in host

Post by frees »

[SOLVED]

Hello,
I want know if is it possible to redirect one port usb directly in my virtual machine. My problem is, I have wireless card usb (AWUS036ACH) and my host don't have driver installed. I (want/can) install only the driver in my client(VM) not in my host. How I can do it ? Can I redirect one USB port and tell: this port is port of my VM, after this I install driver in my VM and use my usb card with my Client.

Is it mandatory to install drivers on my host, before use it in the client or not?
Tanks

USB devices are redirected just above the link layer. So, the host needs to understand USB2 or USB3 (or whatever) link layer. But it doesn't need drivers for the application layer (in this case: WiFi).

User manual: Configuring Virtual Machines: USB Support.
