Does seamless work better on KDE or GNOME?

Currently, I am just using IceWM on my host, with a very slim installation.

I am wondering if the root window makes any performance differences on seamless mode, depending what is running on the root window.

Also, I noticed a slight improvement when changing the Windows guest background to a solid color.

Is anyone able to make Linux guests on a Linux host work with seamless mode? I have no success yet, the option remains gray.

Thanks.

I assume you installed the Guest Additions, else you need to do that for seamless to be available. As I use Xfce on my Linux, I have no problem switching to seamless mode. There should be no requirement for the Window Manager you use.

Seamless mode works for my Windows guests, but my Linux guests are unable to go into seamless mode. I used the lastest ISO download of Ubuntu to test out seamless mode under a Linux guest. I installed the guest additions, all options work for my Linux guest, but seamless mode.

I hear that Seamless mode on Linux guests works fine on a Windows Host though, from other forum posts.

Can someone post their working Linux host specs(VM and Distro), and which Linux guest they are using to make seamless mode work?

Thanks.
