How to force installation of dependencies during install of virtualbox?

Post by bobmct »

As I'm still working on installing the latest VBX downloaded from this site onto my LinuxMint 18.2 system I'm trying to install the amd64.deb with various tools namely dpkg and apt deb. In both cases it fails with unmet dependencies.
I've been searching and trying but I seem to remember there is a method to tell the utility to install all missing dependencies. Hopefully someone here can remind me that that option is? Again, I've tried several that I've found to no available.
Thanks in advance. :?:

It's not within the scope here to explain how to use your host but the way is to add -f to the install line, or if that is not working then once you see the install fail run apt-get install -f in an elevated terminal.

Thanks. That's what I was trying as elevated.
Sorry about the scope issue.
