I recently started using Virtual Machine (Win XP) on my Windows 7 Host.

Been working OK, except that when I run old XP programs, the mouse capture by
the program (PhotoShop LE and Trespasser Game) cannot be switched back to
VM by pressing the Right Ctrl key. Nothing switches it back !
The Mouse is an Optical Hp Wheel Mouse.

At that point, the only way I can find to exit the program is Alt-F4.

Is this a common problem ? What can I do about it ?

Is Right-Ctrl your HostKey? Have you set up the mouse as a USB tablet? In the VM Settings » System » Motherboard » Pointing device.

And no, this is not a common problem, or a problem at all...

Right Control IS my Hot Key.....yes.


In System | Motherboard it shows PS/2 Mouse -
USB Tablet and USB Multi-Touch Tablet are available.....
and nothing is checked in extended features below the Pointing Device.

PIIX3 Chipset.

Enabled USB 1.1 in "USB" (New Filter 1 is checked).

What is that "New Filter 1"? Please describe its contents, and then delete it.

I right clicked on the "New Filter" and the description box had nothing in it except that title.

I did delete it, however......

Believe I found why the Cursor Capture became paralyzed as it were - If I insert my Thumb drive
after VM starts running a game, the little window at the bottom telling me it is recognized seems
to make Cursor Capture (back and forth from Game to VM) get stuck.

If I put the USB drive in before I start VM, all works fine from then on....

Like blowing up the Bridge before or after you cross it.....different outcome.

What little window are you referring to? Inside the guest? Or on the host?
