Thank you for your reply. A couple of pieces of information you have provided were useful, especially about IE and Firefox working in a limited or slower fashion.
The Zip files I made are current and are not from before I made the changes I had mentioned above. Please tell me if there is anything I should know about them that can help.
Thanks again.

If the files are from the new connected guest then there is something inconsistent.
The "recipe" (.vbox file) says you're connected via NAT, which is good:
<Network>
<Adapter slot="0" enabled="true" MACAddress="0800275EB9A6" promiscuousModePolicy="AllowAll" type="82540EM">
<DisabledModes>
<BridgedInterface name="Intel(R) 82567LF-2 Gigabit Network Connection"/>
<InternalNetwork name="intnet"/>
<NATNetwork name="NatNetwork"/>
</DisabledModes>
<NAT/>
</Adapter>
The ipconfig says your guest's Ethernet adapter is not connected, which does not fit with your stated info that you have an internet connection:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 5:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 08-00-27-5E-B9-A6
So either these files are edited, or at least the ipconfig file is not from the new connected XP guest, or something else weird is gong on.
But since you have an internet connection in the guest, I would not worry about the files.

No, the files are from the old site, after I changed things the way I described. There is still no connectivity there. The reason I am keen on keeping the site is that it has all that software I put on it, and relying on the new site implies reinstalling all that software and transferring the files.
I verified once again: both the files are from the old site, where the connectivity was not working before (and still isn't).
If you find both the files are inconsistent, where could the inconsistency stem from, in your opinion?
P.S. The comments you made about IE and Firefox pertain to the new site, not to the old one.
Thanks.

Here's the biggest inconsistency:

I think I understand. You made a new XP guest that connects to the internet sucessfully. So you will have to transfer your data and programs to the new guest. The old guest's network is bunged up.
