It is not booting to the new kernel. Did you reboot the guest after the update? Do you normally shut the guest down or just use the save state?

after rebooting i again installed the guest additions but i got the same error...however I tried this command

# yum install libovmapi xenstoreprovider ovmd python-simplejson xenstoreprovider

and it worked. i can now use the shared folder. Thank you.

I am happy you have it working but I must says those packages are not requirements for a normal guest additions install. If they were you would have seen this listed in the build log as a failure which it does not.

PS I did check and my working build does not have those packages installed.
