Hi: :)
I have Windows 8.1 host. The guest is Slacko Puppy Linux 6.3.0. VB is 5.1.22 version.
The guest display is so large that there is a scroll bar on the right and on the bottom of the screen. Very difficult to navigate the cursors due to oversized display. VB Preferences > display shows “Max guest screen size” set to automatic. Width 640, Height 480. However, click the machine’s “view tab” shows “Auto–resize Guest Display” disabled. I tried re-installing guest additions and was successful. Turned off VB and restarted. Didn’t help.

Did you try to change the resolution from within the guest?

The display is too large for me to reach and click on the Menu tab with the cursor. Both the vertical and the horizontal slide bars are all the way pegged out and cursor stops short of Menu tab on bottom left corner of display tray.

Change that to "None".

The scrollbars aren't working? What if you try the keyboard?

Let me say that the system is very unstable. Even when I capture the mouse, the cursor is there then disappears, and on and on.

I set screen size to "none". Then "saved" . Turn on again and no change. I thought of "Power Off". But I did that a couple of hours ago and got a black screen with fatal error. So I had to do a new re-install.

The slide bars work when I can find the Windows cursor to move them. Then when I move the slide bar to its maximum, I try to move the guest cursor and it still doesn't reach. On one occasion I was able to move the cursor farther but not always. I am now thinking of trying an older version of Linux Ubuntu in VB. Maybe all the bugs will be worked out and function better.
