USB Wireless adapter not showing up in USB-list

Post by Ronin »

Hello!

I'm new to the forum, so if this post is in the wrong place, I'm sorry.

I am running Ubuntu Mate 16.01 on my host machine, and I have two wireless connections: an inbuilt wireless card in my Dell computer, and a USB Wireless Adapter (TP-LINK TL-WN722N). Both shows up fine in my host OS, and I can use both. However, when I try to connect this USB Wireless Adapter to my guest system (Kali Linux, 64-bit), it doesn't even show up in the Devices list in Virtualbox. I'm using Virtualbox 5.1.22.

How do I get the wireless adapter to show up in the Devices list in Virtualbox? Before then, I can't use it in Kali.

Thank you for your time and help!

Please read the following: USB basics and troubleshooting.

Thank you! I don't know if it helped to add the "virtualboxusers" group, but somehow my guest machine could suddenly find the usb wireless adapter.

That's why the FAQ is there, to remind you of a step you might have missed. Being in the correct group is a requirement, not a help. Glad you solved it...
