Re: cant run Virtualbox on MacBookPro 2007 running Mavericks
That sounds very suspiciously close to the answer from 'ocluss' in Virtualbox 5.1.20 application crashes on OSX ≥ 10.12.4. You didn't tells us the specific, exact version of VirtualBox (you should always when reporting a problem), but try to upgrade to the latest from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads or try the test builds from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds. If that doesn't work, you'll need to provide more information about the crashes, your OS version, your computer model, etc.HeathHayle wrote:I get the error Segmentation fault: 11

Did you? Where?HeathHayle wrote:I did list that the version was the latest
In any case "latest" is not a version designation, at best it relies on us having to guess what version you think is the latest and is no help at all to someone reading the topic in the future. Its much easier if you simply say what version you are using. And note that "5.1" is not a version either, that only indicates a development branch. 5.1.22 is the latest release version as I type this.
Also, when you say you "when I try to run it", I understand that "it" means the manager application, not a VM?

Re: cant run Virtualbox on MacBookPro 2007 running Mavericks
I was thinking more in terms of "MacBookPro3,1", but that's OK, it was the only MBP from 2007. Well, that one has an Intel Core 2 Duo, quite old I'm afraid. I'm not sure if it's going to work or not (I have a MBP8,3 myself) and it's working fine.
Have you ever had VirtualBox running successfully on this MBP before? Could you try the latest from the 5.0.x or even the 4.3.x series?

Re: cant run Virtualbox on MacBookPro 2007 running Mavericks
You do NOT have the same problem. Please read the whole thread before posting a "me too". Your iMac does NOT have a Core2 Duo, it has an i3 as you pointed out. So, please, open a new thread, pick an appropriate title and describe your problem exactly.morac wrote:Model Identifier: iMac11,3

Re: cant run Virtualbox on MacBookPro 2007 running Mavericks
I told i have the same issue because the symptoms were the same:
Anyway, i opened new thread as you recommended me.
Best regards
furthermore i thought it can be useful to report that this issue is also present on different hardware and to report to HeathHayle that, in my case, the ver 5.1.18 works.HeathHayle wrote: ... but when I try to run it bounces on the dock for a sec or so then disappears when I try and run it via terminal by typing virtualbox I get the error Segmentation fault: 11 ...
