Windows 10 crashes out on a Mac.

Post by denver »

Im using VB 5.1.20 r114629 Qt5.6.2 on a iMac with OSX 10.12.5 Beta. Ive loaded Windows XP on a virtual drive and that works fine. Ive created a virtual drive for Windows 10 64bit but it crashes after the first reboot during the windows 10 installation process. Any ideas please.

You have a case of the 'instruction not implemented' bug. Have a look at: 5.1.x Guru Meditation: VERR_IEM_INSTR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED.

You seem to be affected by an instruction not yet reported, the "lock cmpxchg8b", but I don't think there's a need (yet) to open another bug report, there are already 11 (eleven) open bug reports about the same problem.

UNLESS, you were not seeing it before upgrading to 5.1.20!!! That's a whole different issue then...

Moving to "OSX Hosts" from "Windows Guests", since this is a bug due to the host support.
