64-bit OS
so system enabled VT-x/AMD-V feature
host system will hang up as long as the 'black background window'(after start button is clicked on GUI of VirtualBox) shows up with VT-x enabled.
everything fine if I use a 32-bit OS and disable VT-x/AMD-V.
Host system:

Re: System hang up as long as guest system startup with VT-x
If I'm not mistaken, Arch has their own fork version of VirtualBox. You can either ask in their forums for help, or completely remove/uninstall/delete/purge their version and install the official version from the Downloads section of VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads).Hacksign wrote:Host system:

Thanks for reply.
Yes, virtualbox is installed by package manager of archlinux.
I asked in Archlinux's forum.
I'm asking here in case there is someone knows how to fix it.

Re: System hang up as long as guest system startup with VT-x
I don't know the specifics, but common logic would say that if your system hangs when a VM is using VT-x, then something else is using VT-x in the system and doesn't like sharing it. I would check to see what else you have installed in the system that may be using VT-x. Common culprits could include antivirus, debuggers, emulators, etc.

Re: System hang up as long as guest system startup with VT-x
I don't think any debuggers/emulators/antivirus softwares is running before hang up occurred.

Re: System hang up as long as guest system startup with VT-x
I wouldn't know the least bit about Arch (trying to learn), but it looks like you're running Wine. That's an emulator.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

OK, I will retry without wine ...
BTW,
wine = wine is not emulator

Yes, my bad. I was thinking more in the lines of "is there anything that's running under Wine that uses VT-x exclusively?". Sorry about that...Hacksign wrote:wine = wine is not emulator
