I am a Linux novice while I am familiar with VirtualBox on Windows hosts.
After installing VirtualBox on an Ubuntu desktop based on an Intel Core 2 quadcore processor with 8 GB RAM I see Ubuntu guest VMs perform worse than I expect.
I presume there is some problem in the guest PC installation.
Where can I locate hints to trobleshoot performance issues while creating Linux guest VM on Linux host PCs?
Is there any guideline to assign resporces (i.e. RAM, processors, ...) to guest VMs in order tio optimize performances?
Regards
Marius

Re: Performance optimization
Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

Re: Performance optimization
Buy a newer CPU. It doesn't have to be the latest but the Core 2 is just not very good at hardware virtualization; it is far worse than any Core i3/i5/i7.marius_1956 wrote:Is there any guideline to assign resporces (i.e. RAM, processors, ...) to guest VMs in order tio optimize performances?
