Thanks runbei. I now have the mouse capture running too, after running the guest additions.
VirtualBox is an amazing piece of software! Thanks so much to the developers and to the more-experienced and indulgent forum responders.

Thanks to cozmicharlie ! Checking the box "Do not message again" in the mouse capture window does indeed activate the mouse capture ! Strange...
