New to VB ... sort of. I used it maybe 5 years ago on a PC but now am setting up a WIN10 Guest on Mac.
Can someone point me in the right direction on configuring either Drag and Drop or Shared Folders to copy files from Guest to Host.
Thanks,
Chuck

Sure thing. They're next to each other actually, since they both require the Guest Additions (GAs):liferules04 wrote:Can someone point me in the right direction on configuring either Drag and Drop or Shared Folders to copy files from Guest to Host.
- Chapter 4.3. Shared folders.
- Chapter 4.4. Drag and Drop.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Re: Mac Sierra and Windows 10 Guest
Thanks socratis. I was able to implement Shared Folders. I never got Drag and Drop to work. I suspect it was because I am using a Mac host and Windows guest, Chapter 4.4 states:socratis wrote: Sure thing. They're next to each other actually, since they both require the Guest Additions (GAs):

At the moment drag and drop is implemented for Windows- and X-Windows-based systems, both, on host and guest side. As X-Windows sports different drag and drop protocols only the most used one, XDND, is supported for now. Applications using other protocols (such as Motif or OffiX) will not be recognized by VirtualBox.

Re: Mac Sierra and Windows 10 Guest
They must have forgotten to update the manual. DnD works just fine on the OSX host side. They need to fix that, I'll fire a quick e-mail to the developers' mailing list.
If it doesn't work, follow a "start from cold-boot"/"observe error"/"shutdown" cycle. With the VM shut down completely (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log". Save the first "VBox.log" only, ZIP it and attach it to your response (see the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form).
