I have a Macbook Air running Mac OSX Seirra 10.12.3.
I have been running VirtualBox with Windows 8 and Explorer 7 because I work in Walmart's Retail Link software as a vendor and for some crazy reason it only works with Explorer 7 and I do not own a Windows machine.
Anyway, it was working fine until last week, when I tried to lacunh Windows and it said I needed to register with Microsoft.
I thought this odd as I have been running it for a couple months.
Anyway, I tried to simply Remove the Windows 7 and reinstall it, but when I do it says:
FATAL: No bootable medium found! System Halted
So I tried to install other Windows versions, same thing.
Then I used the uninstall tool and tried to get rid of VirtualBox and reinstall from scratch.
Did all that, Same Error.
Then I did a search in the finder for any VirtualBox files, found some and deleted them, then reinstalled VirtualBox and now when I try to install Windows when it gets to the screen to "Please select a virtual optical disk file or a physical optical drive containing a disk to start your new virtual machine from", it is no linger giving me an automatic option that it had created before.
In short, i can not figure out how to COMPLETELY start over with VirtualBox.
Any suggestions?

Re: No bootable medium found
You sound like a fairly new user to VirtualBox. Since you are expected to know some basic terms before we engage in a meaningful discussion, I would suggest to start be reading three small chapters from the User Manual:jjr wrote:i can not figure out how to COMPLETELY start over with VirtualBox.
- 1.2. Some terminology,
- 1.7. Creating your first virtual machine and
- 1.8. Running your virtual machine.
From the dialog for the activation, it sounds that you installed one of the trial versions, which does need to be activated after a period of usage, that is normal.

Re: No bootable medium found
I read the items.
I must have downloaded a trial version, b/c my computer has no CD drive.
I do not remember exactly how I did everything, it was a couple months ago.
I just remember needing it (as indicated on the Walmart website), going online, finding a link to put Windows on a Mac and following the instructions. When I was done VirtualBox was installed, and a version of Windows worked and I installed Explorer 7 and viola, I could use Explorer in full screen on my Mac to get into Retaillink Walmart page.
So I guess right now I have a VM installed, but no Windows software.
Where can I download it from and will I need to buy it?

Your computer may not have a CD/DVD but your "virtual" computer can have several.jjr wrote:b/c my computer has no CD drive.
Well, if you can re-trace your steps, how can you expect us to guess what you did or didn't do?jjr wrote:I do not remember exactly how I did everything, it was a couple months ago.
There are several 30-day trial versions of different Windows versions that you can download from Microsoft. Go to https://www.modern.ie/ and select "Virtual Machines" (https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/m ... tools/vms/). Choose a Windows version, choose VirtualBox as the platform and download the zip file. Read the instructions for the installation.jjr wrote:Where can I download it from and will I need to buy it?
I'm not sure what you can buy these days from Microsoft (if you can still buy Win7 for example), but you'll have to ask them.
